Remember of Death

This work is inspired by a funeral ceremony in West Java. This can be seen from the gravestone embedded in the ground with Arabic calligraphy writing. Hanjuang trees are commonly found in burial areas in West Java, which are a symbol of the separation between the two worlds (the world of the human living and the world of the dead). The owl is related to the myth of the burial bird which is believed by the people of West Java. While the slobog batik pattern that is commonly used to cover the corpse.
